7Rocky River Run Registrations Running Hot!

Published on 10 March 2023

It’s time to hit the ground running and get training for the annual 7Rocky River Run!

Now in its 15th year Central Queensland’s largest annual charity running event will be held on Sunday, 21 May 2023 with over $2,500 in prize money up for grabs in the 21km, 10km and 5km races.

Chair of Parks, Sport and Public Spaces, Councillor Cherie Rutherford said whether you’re a competitive participant or not, the 7Rocky River Run is one of the greatest fundraisers on the events calendar in CQ.

“We know there are so many keen participants out there and the event has rightfully earned a reputation as one of our most popular sporting events,” said Councillor Rutherford.

Race registrations opened in February and the interest has been phenomenal. It’s great to see so many people keen to get out and active.

“Whether you’re a competitive runner vying for a new personal best, or if you just want to grab some friends for a fun team challenge, it’s always a great morning out.”

Seven Network National Sales Director - Regional Sales Local Markets, Greg Gabel, said Seven has enjoyed a long history as naming rights sponsor of the event.

"We are passionate supporters of this event because we can see first-hand the impact it has in the local community.

It is very humbling to see close to 2000 locals and visitors come together to raise funds for charity, to meet personal health and fitness goals, and to enjoy participating with family and friends. We encourage everyone to be a part of this much-loved community event," said Greg.

Advance Rockhampton Executive Manager Mr Greg Bowden said 7Rocky River Run showcases our stunning river views and bridge crossings with the race start and finish in front of our historic Customs House.

“The 7Rocky River Run is the largest charity run in Central Queensland and we are encouraging locals to invite friends and family to visit Rockhampton and compete in one of our most popular sporting events.

“Applications have also opened for local charities to submit an expression of interest as the charity of choice for this year’s event,” said Mr Bowden.

“The run is great way to support our local charity groups with much needed fundraising. If you are part of a charity group and would like to be involved we encourage you to apply online.”
